Joy Maehara

Joy Maehara is currently a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering in the Electro-Physics track at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her academic interests include microelectronics, electromagnetics, and power systems. Following her graduation, she plans to pursue a career in electrical engineering on Oahu or on the West Coast. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, going beach, dog walking, and trying new food places.

Q: What Inspired You to Join HKN?

I joined HKN because my fellow friends and upperclassmen are current members or alumni. Seems like a good time!

Q: Where is your hometown and favorite place on the island?

My hometown is Kaneohe, but I’m a townie now. My favorite place on the island is Sunset Beach at sunset but only during the summer.

Q: What video game / movie / TV show would you want to live in and why?

I would want to live in Minecraft because everything is so peaceful, especially with the piano music in the background and rain pouring outside your house.

Q: What would you like to accomplish the most from your “bucket” list?

I would like to travel to 10 countries in one year to experience the different seasons around the world.
